Biofeedback Success Stories

For the past four years I have experienced chronic migraines and pain in my neck and shoulders resulting from injuries and job related stress. The Biofeedback treatments which I received from Tina provided relief from pain far exceeding my expectations.

Over several years I have referred many patients to Tina for biofeedback training. The prominent response to these sessions was very positive, relief of symptoms and gratitude for learning how to relax and be healthier.

Tina is wonderful. She taught me a great way to relieve stress, without using drugs.

Thank you for your expertise & healing ways. You’ve added a wonderful dimension to our program and a priceless skill for our patients.

It is a delight to write this letter for Tina Lerner. I’m not entirely sure whether I am writing a testimonial on behalf of Tina, or on behalf of Biofeedback as taught by Tina. In any case, it’s a pleasure. Although I wonder, really, if there are enough superlative’s in the language to express my gratitude.

First, about Biofeedback:   yes, it works. It does what they say. It did for me. My blood pressure was dangerously high and it’s fine now. More importantly, I have learned how to maintain it at a safe level. I also learned a considerable amount about myself in the process of learning how to take care of my blood pressure, which is the whole point, isn’t it? We are our blood pressure and our chronic neck pain and our TMJ and our migraine headaches and our overeating. It shouldn’t be so difficult for any of us to just take care of ourselves, but it is. And biofeedback is a way that really works to learn how to slow down, be quiet and pay attention to what is really important. It isn’t mysterious. It’s very logical, which is why it appealed to me. It’s a very effective tool to learn the ways we think and behave have a profound impact on the way our bodies operate.

That’s why it’s called bio–FEEDBACK. You get feedback. You can actually look at a cause and effect relationship that doesn’t lie! When you can see what’s happening to you it’s remarkably easy to make intelligent choices about taking care of yourself. And that’s it in a nutshell. If you’re still in doubt, or you think it’s a little too out there keep this in mind. Biofeedback follows the first principle of Hippocrates. He said, “First, do no harm.”

As for Tina Lerner, there couldn’t be a better teacher. I use ‘teacher’ as opposed to therapist or technician, because every minute I spend with her I was learning. I’m sure she could very easily have just wired me up and put me through something that felt like so much esoteric Pac-Man. But that’s not what happened. Tina clearly has a commitment to teaching her clients as much as they can absorb about their own ability to care for and maintain themselves in a healthy place. Her knowledge is encyclopedic and her generosity enormous. Her patience was gratifying and endless. Learning from someone who is curious and inquisitive always has the added benefit of inspiring one to continue to learn. Tina does that. She is a gifted teacher, with endless patience and capacity to listen. I am extremely grateful to her for the time we spent together. She has changed my life and I’m very glad. And I wish her well.

It’s been a pleasure to write this.

I’m feeling better all the time. It’s like magic what you do.

I was once asked to name the 5 most pivotal people in my life. People who define you, change you, help you in some way. Tina Lerner is one of those persons. I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. It was a wake up call to change. I worked a very stressful job along with everyday family life brought me to dangerous levels of stress hormones. Tina worked with me on the Resperate, talked to me about my problems, and helped with the not so simple act of breathing. My blood pressure was very high and after just one week on the Resperate my blood pressure was actually normalized without medication. Biofeedback is one of the most important findings in this Century. I use it daily when I play tennis, drive, and walk. Thank you Tina Lerner for all you have done for me. It has saved my life.

I thought of you last night…meeting with Dr. Watson. The group of doctors in the clinic should know about you! I told him, once again, that without you I would be in the hospital. That’s how powerful what you do is to people like me with heart “issues”. I would love to see you somehow working with him…if his clinic had had you as a reference when I went in two years ago, I would NOT have suffered so much!!!!

Meditation Success Stories

I race cars for a living and one of the requirements is to stay relaxed in the midst of lots of pressure and everything happening very FAST around me. I still use the training wheel for breathing, the focus it helps me create is why I’m still meditating today.

I have fewer racing thoughts and am less distracted. I do still procrastinate but way less, it seems so much easier to accomplish what I need to get done. Lot’s more has improved. After awhile I forget how it used to be. Probably a good thing not to remember those challenging days.

Starting to meditate wasn’t as hard as I have heard from people I know, of course I have Tina to thank for that!! She made it so easy. I feel like I have shaved months off my learning curve.

It’s interesting that I’m noticing more than ever how beautiful Santa Barbara really is. I don’t know why I felt I had no time to look at the beauty around me. I appreciate the way my meditation has unfolded and I’ve felt supported by Tina and her training wheels all along the way.

I don’t worry about the future like I used to. Before I started to meditate, if I heard that someone I knew was sick or had a scary diagnosis, I would start to be afraid I might get it. I would picture myself sick and dying and I couldn’t stop myself from worrying even if I knew it made no sense.

I’m more understanding and accepting of myself and my crazy family. I’m better at letting my family members be who they are without so much reaction and judgment. I enjoy my own company more. My meditation is every day for the last few months, I like it, it’s become one of the things I look forward to.

I’ve been taking better care of myself. I started to make time to exercise and get together with friends. The feeling that I had no time to do the things I wanted to do for me is gone. Tina mentioned I might have something I never thought would happen, happen. That would be exercise. She was right, she seems to always be right on the mark.

I train athletes to get more out of their game, to up level their natural ability. I had heard of Tina and sent several of my clients to her and the results were nothing short of amazing. Relaxed, focused, and directed for each of them. And the tools that she calls training wheels they’re still using them.

With Tina’s support I started meditating. At my job I’m having less stress. I schedule my days in a way that is actually realistic. I used to feel like I needed to over achieve in order to feel good at the end of a day. I can’t imagine my life without meditation. It’s been a year and I still keep my favorite training wheel close by in case I have a day where I am challenged to meditate. 🙂

I feel more confident because I don’t overwhelm myself with as much self criticism.  My clarity and focus has me wishing I had done this meditation thing years ago.

Always worrying about the future was hard on me. Before I started to meditate if I heard that someone I knew was sick or had a scary diagnosis, I would start to be afraid I might get it. I would picture myself sick and dying and I couldn’t stop myself from worrying even if I knew it made no sense. I’m very grateful I found Tina and the guidance she provided me to meditate.

I’m so much more relaxed and calmer. I no longer start my day overwhelmed with anxiety.

I feel like I healed my heart. I used to feel it fluttering all the time and now it rarely happens, and when it does, I just relax, breath just like when I meditate and the fluttering stops.

Reactive and often angry was part of my every day life. I felt like I had a right to be. Now I’m less judgmental and more understanding. My insides are less tense. Just writing this I can see how my life has changed in the last few months. I will continue to meditate.

I appreciate you helping me to meditate. I tried meditating a few times and it really didn’t seem to be working. You not only cleared up my misunderstanding of meditation you cleared up the fact that when I thought wasn’t meditating, I really was meditating. And your training wheels have made it possible to stop my distracting thoughts. Thanks so much!
